Santangelo Volume 1 presents an original 30-minute soundscape, written and produced by multi-instrumentalist, composer, and performer Laila Sakini, titled ‘A Beat In The Water’. For this release, Sakini’s work toes the lip of the sea, pleading, negotiating, with the ebbs and flows of wonder, the now-and-thens of life. The guitar’s floating wah wah washes up above, while the recorder reverberates somewhere deeper. A gentle crashing of dubby chords, cassette playback, samples, and vocals calling to the great outward ocean and our own great inward introspection.
